Madrid sign Illarramendi for 38.9 million euros

Real Sociedad officially announced the move today and the player will be presented in the Bernabéu on Saturday at 1pm.

Asier Illarramendi will be a Real Madrid player for the next six seasons, after the club from the capital deposited the player’s buyout clause in the headquarters of the Liga. Real Sociedad officially announced the move in a press conference, where the club’s president announced the amounts involved. The player means an outlay for Madrid of 38,949,000 euros, being the buy out clause of 32,190,000 (30 million plus inflation), plus VAT of 6,759,000. He will be presented in the Bernabéu on Saturday at 1pm.
After several days of rumours events moved rapidly this morning, with the player not training in Zubieta, Madrid paying the buy-out clause and Real calling a press conference to explain the terms of the deal.
“Real Madrid have paid the buy-out clause, plus VAT, and Asier is leaving Real Sociedad. We’re sad about it, because he’s going a little bit sooner than he should be”, said Real Sociedad president Aperribay. He said that there had been not talks between the clubs, and Real Sociedad had rejected Madrid’s proposal to pay in instalments.
