Laporta: "Pep deserves Barça’s gratitude for the job he did"

The ex-Barcelona president has defended Pep Guardiola following the Bayern boss's admission of his negative relationship with the current Barça board.

Ex- Barcelona president Joan Laporta has defended Pep Guardiola in the wake of the new Bayern Munich coach’s comments concerning the current Barça board. At a press conference in Italy, Guardiola revealed his negative relationship with current ‘Azulgrana’ president Sandro Rosell, explaining: “I went 6,000km away and asked the president and his board to leave me in peace. They haven’t done that, they haven’t kept to their word.”
Following Guardiola’s words, Laporta took to his Twitter account to offer his backing to his former coach. “Guardiola deserves Barcelona’s gratitude for the great job he did, for his honesty and for the values he represents”. It is not the first time that the former Barça supremo (who in recent times has appeared to be readying himself for a bid to return to the club presidency) has publicly criticised the present board’s treatment of Guardiola.
