Real Madrid defender Raúl Albiol is currently in Italy as he undergoes a medical at Napoli. Aurelio de Laurentiis, president of the Serie A club, took to his Twitter account on Wednesday morning to announce the news. “Albiol is having a medical. Let’s hope he passes,” wrote De Laurentiis on the social networking site, where he has more than 100,000 followers.
De Laurentiis also confirmed that Napoli are in talks over a move for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuaínand Brazilian forward Leandro Damião. The Italians are seeking a replacement for Edinson Cavani, who joined Paris Saint-Germain for 64 million euros on Tuesday.
Albiol and Higuaín would be joined at Napoli by former Madrid team-mate José Callejón, who completed a 10 million euro move to the Stadio San Paolo earlier in July.
